Inspired by her heritage, designer Tenzin Tsomo draws on the anatomy of antique Tibetan equestrian rugs. Studio Tenjung's collection Notations, features a diverse range of weaving experiments, echoing the drafts of a weaver's notebook.
Courtyard captures the geometric rhythm of Himalayan clay rooftops, viewed from below. Two layers of evenly spaced protruding beams, their painted ends forming decorative lines, inspire this pattern in earth tones of ochre, terracotta, and deep charcoal. It is hand-knotted using a rare, revived warp-faced-back technique once thought lost that creates an exceptionally lightweight yet durable rug.
