Studio Tenjung's Scapes' collection is inspired by Isamu Noguchi's playground designs. Noguchi designed environments where children could explore freely, without prescribed activities or rules.
These eight hand-knotted rugs borrow from Noguchi's vocabulary: biomorphic shapes, puzzle-piece edges, organic cutouts outlined in contrasting colors. The bright primary colors are taken from his two completed playgrounds: Playscapes in Atlanta (1976) and Moerenuma Park in Sapporo (2005). Deep indigo, vibrant marigold and orange, burgundy wine, sage green.
